Kingman turquoise cabochon

This is the cabochon I won from Cabbing rough's contest on Beading Arts Blog. It is a beautiful turquoise cab with rivers of golden color running through it. I did a simple wrap to follow the contour of the stone in copper wire.

Fragments of summer

Summer is leaving us a little more every day. I can feel it in the crisp night air. I have dishes of mismatched summer beads on my desk. I had a handful of pastel briolettes lingering around like the last days of summer. They remind me of the Fragments of Summer.  I had just enough to make a scrumptious bracelet. There are turquoise, apple dyed jade, hot pink and light pink chalcedony, green chalcedony, butterscotch chalcedony, Aqua blue chalcedony, rose quartz, green adventurine, howlite, and swarovski crystals. The clasp is a 14kt gold filled heart toggle. What I really love is how it feels on my wrist. Very comfortable and rich.

Starry Night

This tear drop agate was disfigured but I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. It has such cool colors and patterns. I decided to cover the big chip underneath a wire wrap. I used  balled headpins that I torched. My hunny came up with the description or rather title for me. He said it reminded him of Vincent van Gogh's painting "Starry Night" It fits it nicely ;)
Blessings,
Terry

Amalie

I love these dyed jade nuggets. They remind me of yummy cherry cola. I wrapped them to a copper frame that I made. I dove into the project while I was caring for my sick dog, Amelie. As we spent the day together, alone in my room, I dove into this project to keep my mind busy. She passed away Friday. She will be missed very much. The necklace is named after her.

Happy news for me!

I've just been informed I am the winner of a cabochon contest from Beading Arts blog. Cabbing rough has generously contributed a beautiful Kingman turquoise cabochon. It is absolutely stunning!
http://www.beading-arts.com/

Cabbing rough is a family owned and run business. They put a lot of care and love into their work and it shows. Be sure to check out their store. http://www.etsy.com/shop/cabbingrough

Thank you to Cyndi from Beading arts and Laura, Karl and family at Cabbing rough.

Midnight Rose

I experimented with some oxidized steel wire on this necklace. I did a free form wrap around a green agate bead and then added a small faceted hematite bead. When finished, I noticed it resembled a abstract rose. It hangs with black onyx nuggets and colorful agate tear drops.

Green Agate

This delicious apple green agate bead was part of a strand I got for my birthday. I decided to go with a simple weave with copper wire so that most of the stone bead remains exposed. I formed the weave to just follow the curve of the stone. I knotted it onto black leather cord and made the hook n eye clasp with copper wire, as well.

Your hair is for more then just your head.

Today I stumbled across an interesting article on Bead Snob's blog. It is titled Authentic human hair jewelry by Larissa De Souza.  http://beadsnob.blogspot.com/2010/05/authentic-human-hair-jewelry-by-larissa.html
"Larissa de Souza is a NYC jewelry designer who views hair as a great medium for sculptural design. She does custom jewelry work using your hair or a loved one's. " Click the link above and check out her interesting post.

Chuck

I love making owls out of copper wire. This owl's name is Chuck. He is named after a friendly homeless man we met. Chuck is made with coiling, weaving and netting techniques and measures about 3 1/2 inches x 2 inches. He hangs from a long copper chain and looks quite retro.

I made this large owl especially for  Copper Wire Jewelers- issue 3. Chuck can be found on the last page (25)
http://abeadedaffair.com/copper-wire-jewelers-magazine-issue-3/  The magazine is beautiful from cover to cover. It is full of talented artists and wonderful articles. A big thanks to Lois and Hot Glue Media.

Blue Crystal

This is a mosaic pendant made my copper wire and blue and iridescent crystals. I made an oval shaped frame and the weaved it together. I accented  it with deep blue crystal beads A copper chain swings across the center. It hangs from black leather cord with blue crystal beads.

Butterscotch Pendant

This is another recycled piece. It is made from copper wire with a weaving technique design that I found from

Nancy Wickman's online blog . She has a great tutorial on her blog. I changed up her design a bit and added my own little touches. :) The frame hangs from an old toggle piece. I added a swarovski crystal bead in the middle of the weaved frame. A beautiful, butterscotch, Chalcedony briolette dangles below. This necklace is approximately 18 inches in length.

Retro Rhinestone heart

This heart was inspired by the rhinestone jewelry my grandma used to wear. As a child, I used to love looking through her wooden jewelry box. It was loaded with bold, sparkling brooches and unique chokers. I made this piece from copper wire. I used a combination of coiling and weaving techniques, The center focal piece is an old button. It is surrounded with red, faceted, glass beads. I still haven't decided if I will make a choker or a brooch out of it.

Fair update

Had a fun week at the Merced County fair. A lot of fair goers stopped by my table to watch me make jewelry and took my business cards. I got a few custom orders and a few people put some jewelry on hold until after the fair. The weather was perfect in the 80's n low 90's. Thanks to all that stopped by to show their support and say hello.

The Local fair

It's that time of year again. This year's local fair got pushed up a month earlier. Great news too considering that the weather is already moving towards the mid 90's this weekend. I'm looking forward to participating again this year doing demos with Daniel. I will be  making jewelry three days this year..starting June 15th. . Hope to see all you local friends out there this year and for my web friends, I will post pictures of the event in a couple weeks. Unfortunately, no sales can be made during the demos but, it is a great opportunity to show our work and hand out business cards.

Blessings to all,

Terry

Creative Evolution

I’m sure, I’m not alone when it comes to growing and changing creatively. Once again, I am evolving. I have been noticing my jewelry designing and interests taking a new direction. While I LOVE making jewelry to wear, I think, I love the creating more. My jewelry doesn’t fall into the traditional, conservative looking jewelry. Before I jumped into jewelry and wire wrapping, I loved to paint. It’s the colors and shapes that interest me. Lately, my pieces seem to be getting bigger and bolder. Sometimes, they’re just too big to wear..haha This has got me wondering if maybe I should venture into bigger scaled things. I’m guessing that would fall into the sculpture and abstract art. My close friends know my challenges but those who don’t, I deal with some health issues..nothing life threatening, thank goddess and god but, more challenging mentally and physically. With the help of some good Dr.s, supporting friends and family, I’ve learned to how to find a way to deal with and manage pain on a daily basis. Art is an outlet, my therapy and a wonderful way to heal the body and the soul.

Happy Creating and much blessings,
Terry

Masquerade

Masks are always so mysterious and intriguing.  I made this mini masquerade mask from copper wire. After drawing out different sections on paper, I began to shape the components with different gauges of wire. I used 20 Ga., 21 Ga., 26 Ga. and 28 Ga. I decorated it with yellow glass beads, silver glass seed beads and swarovski crystals. It measures 4 inches by 2 inches. In fact, it fits perfectly over my little doggie's eyes. :)

Breezy hoops

These hoops are handmade from copper wire. Hoops are fun and easy to make. I used my deodorant to make their oval shape. :)Inside i attached an aqua blue shell bead. There's a lot of movement and dangle.

Helena

Helena is a mosaic pendant, I made from copper wire. The pendant is coiled and weaved and then wrapped with swarovski crystals. The cameo/goddess is a brass button. I am fond of the look of mixed metals.

Crystal kitty

I made this fat kitty from copper wire and filled her up with iridescent crystals. She really sparkles.I used my torch to make rose colored ball head pins to shape her eyes. She wears a little red glass tear drop in the middle of her forehead. I would say she is a bit of a princess.
